The Association of Boat Drivers plying the Bonny-Port Harcourt waterways has raised alarm over the continued detention of one of their colleagues, ADVENTIOUS RUFUS, who was attacked by sea pirate.
One of the drivers simply known as JONATEX told correspondent AYO ODUNGWERU in a telephone interview that his colleague was detained after filing a statement about the arrest of one of the sea pirates who attacked drivers and passenger recently.
JONATEX said RUFUS was arrested after the boat driver had led the handover to marine police who was later transferred to the Eagle Crack Unit Mile One Police Station.
The boat driver expressed surprise the police also detained the driver on the guise that they wanted to get his statement and were demanding 50,000 as bail from the seaman.
When contacted, the Commander of the Eagle Crack unit, Doctor PAUL OBOT, admitted to correspondent GEORGE UKAEGBU that the boat driver was in the custody of the police unit.
